General / Ordering

Is the chocolate gluten free?

All of our chocolate 'may contain traces of gluten or gluten containing cereals', or gluten may be specified as an allergen. We run production in a kitchen environment, which uses gluten containing products, as well as making some products which contain gluten, and while we clean thoroughly, we do not test our products for traces of gluten, so cannot claim they are gluten free and/or remove the allergen statement.

Is the chocolate dairy free?

None of our chocolates are dairy free, they all 'may contain traces of dairy', or dairy/milk may be specified as an allergen. We run both dairy and non-dairy products, and and while we clean thoroughly, we do not test our products for traces of dairy, so cannot claim they are dairy free and/or remove the allergen statement.

Is the chocolate vegan?

Our vegan bars are Peru, Coconut, and Vanuatu. Some limited edition bars are also vegan. They are not dairy free as there is potential for cross contamination from our dairy containing products, however they are classed as vegan as we have not intentionally added any animal products and/or byproducts. Some of our range is vegan.

Is the chocolate sugar free?

No, our chocolate contains organic cane sugar or coconut sugar.

Where do our cocoa beans come from?

We ethically source from smaller holder farmers. We have started a relationship with growers in Vanuatu under our grower partner program, which we pay a premium for higher quality beans and a living wage to farmers. We are looking to source our cocoa beans exclusively from our Pacific neighbours in the future.

How should I store my chocolate?

Chocolate is made to be stored at room temperature and not in the fridge. This is to reduce the chance of 'bloom' on the chocolate (the white layer that can often be seen on badly stored chocolate, which is the cocoa butter coming out of temper and migrating to the surface of the chocolate - it is totally safe to eat, but may not have the texture of perfectly tempered chocolate), as bloom can occur at low temperatures. However, it can occur faster at higher temperatures (as well as melting!), so it is dependent on the storage conditions available to you. We recommend eating your chocolate quickly if you live in a hot climate.

What is the white stuff on my chocolate?

The white layer that can often be seen on badly stored chocolate is called bloom. It is the cocoa butter coming out of temper and migrating to the surface of the chocolate - it is totally safe to eat, but may not have the texture of perfectly tempered chocolate.

Are WCF products keto?

No, all cocoa beans contain an element of carbohydrates.
